The 587 services did initially have real-time enabled - problem was they were sending data to the Maryborough/Hervey Bay feed instead of the SEQ - so they never showed up on apps.
Currently they don’t seem to appear on any feeds.

At the Gold Coast Airport!
Not a single reference to Smart Ticketing or anything like that here! Most of the educating is imparted by Kinetic drivers and GCA employees at certain extent.
I’ll forward this to the RATLR team. Thanks for posting this @lott.
While I’m here… The trams have outdated info as well! There’s no mention of ST being available in full across SEQ, including buses or ferries.
The first ex VL train of the morning is approaching Bombay Express level these days. Full seated load. Tradies sitting on their eskies in the vestibules. People standing between carriages.
I think we really need 4 tph inbound from first service on the GC line, and maybe a 3:55 am ex VL service, too.
I did suggest this to TL, but apparently there’s not enough rollingstock to support it. Another reason QTMP should be extended.
Honestly, I wonder if Gold Coast should be the be first 24-hour line on the network, even if it was only hourly from 12-4 or so. Might need to extend the night time 700 to support transfers.
Interesting service disruption report:
The 4:32am Nambour to Central train will run express between Caboolture and Petrie due to boarding delays.

The Sunny Coast might need a boost as well!
Honestly the GC line would make sense to go 24-hour, it’s routinely busy even late into the night or first train of the morning
I wonder whether there would be demand for 24 hour services on all lines, even if it’s running at a lower frequency or even as a combined routes where feasible to minimise the resources required (eg. an all station Varsity Lakes to Airport running between 12am and 4am)?
I’d rather more work be conducted after hours 7 days a week than whole weekend shutdowns, but I think several lines (Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast in particular) should have later services in both directions. The late start to half-hourly service on the Ipswich line on weekends is another weakness.
Hell, I would even advocate for late night shutdowns with railbuses running express from Boggo Road to the coast.
In other news: a bunch of bus stops in the Gold Coast are being fitted with space for solar panels, which I imagine will be used to power e-ink digital timetables.
Am I the only one who prefers the Translink stop signs over BCC’s signs? I do wish they were consistent ![]()
I much prefer the TL ones to the BCC ones, particularly because their naming conventions are more clear and easy to understand.
Like… What the hell is “Warrigal Rd at Fanfare” even supposed to mean? Fanfare Street!
And don’t get me started on "stop numbers” LMAO
I agree, but Translink really should have adopted the existing BCC style signs in 2004/2005 given they were widespread and only needed new plates. There was no reason for not only a completely different format but multiple sign types (flag or J-pole).
Incidentally there are at least 2 BCC style J-poles I know of that have lasted more than 20 years without the plates being updated - stop 237 at All Hallows and Jurgens St at Balaclava St in the Gabba. The latter is interestingly enough in front of the BCC “City Standards” depot…
I got an answer to this: X now means NGR with ETCS equipment installed.
Has anyone contacted TL regarding the issues with no data from the 587? I’m happy to if no-one else has.

They should run these services every morning ![]()
^ managed to log in to Instagram. It is the early morning services for the marathons.
I know there was this post in the developer google group some time ago by someone else which never got a reply if you wanted to follow up there or cite it: https://groups.google.com/g/translink-australia-opendata/c/WtovUe_HhB4.
