Passenger Information Screens (PIDs)

It had been earmarked on one of Vicki Howard’s FB posts last year. I posted an image of it on Skyscraper and RBOT at that time.

I’m actually quite excited it’s now come into fruition

Would be better with consolidated stops and routes. I had to catch a bus from Adelaide St to
Gabba today. 10 different stops and who knows how many different routes. and I ignored the KGS. Bus planners who think this is workable are clearly just mean.

Looks like all the stops will have them on the new section. Although we may have to wait until they complete the section up to Creek Street.

It would be good if they installed some ePaper real time stops along route 60 at Woolworths Newstead, James St Fortitude Valley, Valley Island (if it’s retained), Mollison St West End, Aldi Westend, and Woolworths Montague Road.

They also need some real time stops on Brunswick Street outside the station both inbound and outbound.

Sad day today as I noticed that one of the new PIDs on Adelaide Street stop 23 has been vandalised. (Some one has tried to melt the perplex screen with a lighter, leaving a huge burn mark. :frowning:

I hope that Translink replaces the screen before they are activated.

I was scared of something like that happening!

This is why we can’t have nice things…

Here is a quick video on how ePaper real time works, with specific examples from around the world and Australia.

I noticed in the video there were examples from NT, and NSW as well.

Here is an example in Victoria.

I noticed today that the real ePaper displays have been turned on on Adelaide Street.

Just spotted another ePaper PID at the Botanical Gardens stop at Mount Cootha

Is that a Translink service or a BCC service? Is it part of the same Translink network?

The 471 and GCL service it. It used to also be serviced by a Botanical Gardens to Mt Coot-Tha Lookout shuttle. I’m disappointed that it got discontinued.

The fact the Mount Coot-tha shuttle didn’t serve Toowong Station was a terrible decision. It’s almost like they wanted it to fail!

ePaper PIDs Perth

I noticed this weekend that all the busway PIDs were offline (defaulting back to scheduled services only). The app was displaying real time though.
