Try now?
Thanks, fine now!
These dot matrix displays on the NGRs could be a lot more useful if they showed things like exterior temperature and the time while they’re not showing the usual messages.
I do remember at one point seeing the displays on an SMU260 showing the time so I know it’s possible.
I’ve never seen them display the interior or exterior temperature, but it would be good if they did.
I remember the time also, but I haven’t seen it for a while.
I think that ability got killed when they switched the text formatting on the SMU260 and their IMU siblings form the shouty ALL CAPS desto blinds to the more pleasant looking one we have right now.
The text looked different (less clear) on the interior PIDs back then as well.
About temperature: it shouldn’t be too hard as the aircon system should have that information as a way to regulate internal temps.
I know Alstom can do it because X’Trapolis in other markets have the ability, as shown here:
In recent times. Thompson Bus Services have had a PID introduced into one of their buses, at the moment it’s currently number 84 a Volvo B8RLE Volgren Optimus. Here’s a pictured of it though they haven’t turned them on yet.
I’ve noticed that all the white poled stops along Old Northern Road have the e-ink PIDs installed. It’s good to see these being rolled out more broadly.
Im glad to see that they are now putting where in the City it terminates on the Desto.
Now we only need to drop the BUZ on destos to show things like “City - Queen St” or “Fairfield Gardens” in full!
They really should go back to the way in which they displayed the destination on the old 66.
- Uni of QLD Lakes - via PA Hospital - via Boggo Road
- Eight Mile Plains - via Buranda - via Garden City
- Roma Street - via City Hall
- RBWH - via QUT Kelvin Grove
etc, etc.
So the 111 desto didn’t end up going to the BCC Bus museum at the Mount Gravatt crematorium afterall. ![]()
It’s M1, just a bad font choice. ![]()
They should have taken this opportunity to drop all the cringey names that don’t actually mean anything to most people, like “rocket”. People shouldn’t need a codebook to decipher this stuff. A bus is a bus - some run more often than others, some only run in peak.
Saw an outbound 180 this morning showing “Garden City Buz” (ie Buz is a proper noun apparently). Yuck.
Yeah, they should really replace the rocket/bullet names and use “express” or “direct” instead for peak services.
Most people don’t care what BUZ or things like that mean! They only care if the service is frequent or if it skips stops, and they only add noise and take away valuable desto space.
Hell, routes like the 130, 140, 150 or 330 are also expresses!
Yeah realise that but from a distance it looks like 111
It’s a really blurry photo but the desto changes to show Counteds Street Holding Stand when it gets to Roma Street. It’s interesting that they bothered programming this in.
It’s good in the respect when your waiting for it going the other way because you would know when it’s left Countess street.
I’ve also noticed with voice over announcements they have dropped the word “station” from each stop.
