Passenger Information Screens (PIDs)

I knew this photo would come in handy at one point! From the M2 at RBWH:

Is this for Real Time data purposes perhaps? It really should show a screen stating the bus is terminating and to disembark imo.

Sometimes the GCLR depot and some sort of holding / timing stop show up in GTFS too, probably for the same root cause

The dot matrix PIDs were out of action at Petrie yesterday.

They should be replaced with LED screens with one devoted to bus information

This PID on Logan Coaches is pretty good along with the audio. Better audio quality than on Clarke’s that’s for sure.

Looks like they’re using Hanover equipment instead of Consat. Good call.

Was the audio good?

PIDs now appearing on Bus Qld Vehicles in Toowoomba, although not operational as yet.

It’s for internal time tracking at the Rochedale Depot

With the the passenger info screens in the NGR and refurbished 60 sets, I’d prefer if they showed more relevant information about the train.

The above shows a rough draft of what the screen could show instead of ads and campaigns.

Edit: the above quote I linked shows the PID in a refurbished 60 set that could be used to show the info (IMG_5309) (thanks Alex)

The engineer at the QTMP visit said yesterday that the new trains will have journey progress along a horizontal line similar to what Melbourne has and the metro in Sydney as well as the metro buses here in Bne.

I assume this will be rolled out across all trains in the future, pending space for them…

I had actually had a small mess around with potential journey progress PID type formats and came to this conclusion. Sort of a hybrid mix of Sydney’s line maps onboard the trains as well as the usual QR map format.

Thanks for posting this concept. I would love for the PIDs on the new QTMP trains to resemble this.

Some of the text describing interchanges could be changed to match what is done on the line diagrams Translink has recently put up around the network.

Welcome! Nice work.

I noticed yesterday that Palm beach 27th Avenue has one of the new real time stops which are also on Adelaide Street

They’re being installed on 777 stops between Burleigh and OOL. I’ll post pictures once I pass through them tomorrow.

I couldn’t get photos today because I had to run to Brisbane and back. Hopefully I’ll have time tomorrow.
