^^Check the Translink project page as mentioned before regional areas have been updated as in progress.

Not really sure who this “news outlet” actually is, and it’s a pay article so you can only read some of it..

Queensland Government Pulls Regional Bus Operators out of ‘Smart Ticketing’ Fare Project–a Loss for Cubic - Mobility Payments

It would explain why some operators have decided to use their own EFTPOS-based systems instead of waiting for translink/TMR to do its part of the bargain, which in this day and age looks like they want to do absolutely nothing.

It makes sense to not bother with the full blown Cubic system, making people tap on and off, when fares are all 50c the only gain is data capture (that they don’t get now). All the services really need is payment method for cards and smart devices to collect the 50c fare - which I’d assume the new smart go card could then function with. They could probably just stick a ‘Square’ thingy on the ticket machine!

Do you get a printed ticket when you pay with EFTPOS? Because aside from data capture and proving the fare was already paid when transferring to another service, if 50c fares are permanent it really does seem like an absolute waste having smart ticketing in regional areas…

That was in September and it seems TL are going ahead based on the project page thank goodness.

I think there’s still benefits to having a state-wide PT card rather than relying on cash in regions because the future is incrementally moving towards a digital, card first experience.
Having the option to tap on with bank card will become important, as well as for younger children and concession users

It’s been showing that for more than a year now so I don’t trust it.

Before Christmas it was just showing the status for southeast Queensland saying completed. Now it’s showing the status for the regional areas in progress.

Has anyone been having trouble checking their trips with the ticketing assistant as of late? I get this message more often than not now.

Yes, but only with my MyState Bank card. My CommBank card has had no such issues. I wonder if it’s instution-specific?

The new splash screen is now in place on Kinetic Surfside buses.

I wonder when they’re going to start the regional rollout?
Maybe to coincide with the Coochie ferry becoming TL-networked

They’ve just appeared on Clarks buses as well.

Speaking of: it has a route number now, the F50.

BCC buses have been updated this week too.

Redlands buses also have it

Can report I’ve seen it on Transport for Brisbane, Clarks, Mt Gravatt, Transdev and Bus Queensland. That would mean every operator out there got the new screen at once.

Now if they could make the “Please wait” screen a bit more useful by showing the time and date as in other systems…

Have we heard anything from translink about the next steps for Smart Ticketing?

We’re still stuck with the same clunky chat-like interface to check on journey history and fare adjustments (for more than a year now!), with account-based ticketing still nowhere to be found.

And no idea about the go card replacement either…
