Banyo station is reopening on Monday 26 May!
Better late than never!
Finally! Now just waiting for Buranda.
Any ideas on what the next lot of statins to be upgraded are?
Taringa is long overdue (and there’s been a lot of local noise on the west about this), would be nice to see that finally start
There’s a page on QR’s website for the Station Accessibility Upgrade Program which shows what stations are being looked at.
Loganlea: ‘Under construction’. I’m unsure of the accuracy of this statement because I haven’t seen any other statements about this besides planning (whoever lives near Loganlea Station, could you verify the accuracy of that statement?). Specifically, it’ll be rebuilt closer to various health, education and community services. This will include provision for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project.
Albion: ‘detailed design underway’. They’re currently negotiating with transit oriented development developers so there’s no specific timeframe yet.
Wooloowin: ‘Preliminary planning stage’. There’s not much else stated regarding that station.
All other stations on the list are either under under construction or completed.
Loganlea is my local station, and yes, construction of the new station is definitely underway! Not before time, either. Having an inaccessible station servicing a hospital is atrocious, IMO.
Taringa, long overdue.

Project update July 2025:

Shorny still in like construction zone for like what 4 years already…
If only it included a second platform…
90m high-level platform raising at the accessible boarding point
Does that full length full height platform or something?
No, length of a 6 car NGR is ~147 metres, so not full length.
Just something I remembered yesterday while passing through Buranda is that they have now closed off access to Logan Road, blocking access to the high frequency Logan Road services 175 and 204, and access to the Wolloongabba Community Health Centre. Might need to advocate to Qld Rail/TMR that they need to build a connection from Buranda station to Logan Road - the access path is there, but is gated off, just needs the gates removed and the access paths paved/re-paved.
I wonder if it is only temporary until the works are all complete - there appears to be a (not very accessible) corridor to Logan Road marked out with temporary fencing.
No, I remember that they had no plans on having a connection to Logan Road, but feeding everyone through the new lifts/stairs/overbridge on Gillingham Street. I vaguely remember there was some pushback from the community during construction over the closure of the Logan Road entrances.
Plans for the south side but temporary path until this is built would be nice.
The QR artist impression show the north side ramp still there but that’s an artists impression.
Is there a list of stations that have plans to be upgraded but are not yet scheduled or budgeted? Stations like Taringa, Chelmer, and Sherwood, for example, are quite busy stations with no timetable for making them accessible as far as I know.
Would the station upgrades have been designed if no budget has yet been allocated?
No, but there might be a list of stations that are planned to be upgraded. Presumably it’s all of them eventually but I would hope either Queensland Rail or TMR would at least be thinking about what they intend to do in this regard.
