Brisbane Metro

Imagine the billions we’d save if anyone in government could imagine taking a lane of Gympie Rd away from cars..

I know it’d be a bit difficult to achieve given the curve on the rail line around there but shame they weren’t able to create/consider a decent interchange between the Windsor train station and the proposed busway station

I don’t think decent and interchange go in the same sentence in Queensland…

There’s a case for moving Windsor station east closer to the residential developments on Lutwyche Road, perhaps with an elevated over road station. But it is tricky with the curved track as you state.

I reckon it could definitely be closer to Lutwyche Rd, even with the curve. Although directly over Lutwyche would be too much of a curve.

Gee these old plans are pretty bog average and lazy.

One stop with an absolutely rubbish interchange with rail, and the other just 250m from an existing stop. And both requiring huge resumptions and crudely ploughing through a couple of heritage buildings instead of cleverly stealing space in the massive existing road corridor.

We seem to have a love affair with maximising costs and minimising benefits in public transport planning in Queensland.

Surely the busway station could be moved to the western side of Lutwyche road to help with that?.. but again like @ilovebrizvegas mentioned Queensland isn’t the best at creating decent interchanges (or interchanges at all really)

The Albion Road station is extremely unnecessary and I’d hope if this project was ever built, that it would be scrapped, and the tunnel just continues from Windsor straight to Truro Street

Agree to an extent. I do though still support metro to Chermside but the current bus station as Westfield wouldn’t be able to handle it.

The reality is plenty of shuttle buses with or without any future Metro Bus expansions!

9059 has been put online today, putting the total fleet number up to 57 metrobuses. Only one more left…

2 less than originally promised . What’s happening with 9001, I wonder.

The heavy testing regime it went through (eg. hauling bags of cement up and down the gravel roads of the Mt Coot-tha Quarry and emergency braking tests at Mt Cotton) might have left it unsuitable for general use?

If 9024 got captured in Somalia can we ask pretty please to Volgren for a super long electric Optimus to replace it?

I’m pretty sure 9060 has completed its hours

(Not certified for passenger service yet)

If you want real legacy, build more heavy rail.

Is that seriously what happened? I thought I read somewhere (can’t find it now, though; wish I’d bookmarked it) that it’s at the bottom of the ocean somewhere.

Seriously, what are a bunch of pirates going to do with a huge electric bus they have no way to charge?

What chassis would they build it on?

If one of the Metro Buses was lost, surely it would be replaced?

With most of these types of contracts that the manufacturers responsibility ends once they’ve delivered it to the departure port. As far as Hess are concerned, they’ve completed the contract.

I think the only (realistic) chance of a replacement is to add an extra one to a new order.
