The gossip around 9024:
âNothing official i can link to, but I had a chat to someone involved with the project and it was brought up. I donât think I am able to share what exactly happened but it wonât be delivered, not sure if there is an extra one which will be built to make up for it.â
Excluding this confidential information, all I care about are the 16 articulated TMR bendy buses that were supposed to be delivered to Brisbane Transport earlier this year, but NEVER arrived.

A Metro question I was wondering about as I stood onboard the packed 8:30am M1 (until a ton of seats became available after largely emptying at South Bank) this morning - are there physical changes made to the vehicles for them to run in the higher capacity, 170 passenger event mode?

They increase the number of standing passengers so must be some changes to the interior configuration.

I asked the main project PR team at one of the engagement events before the 169 launch and they indicated no physical change, just density of passengers.

If you were to build the Brisbane Metro(bus) genuinely from scratch now, including the busway itself, it would be many billions.
In the case of Canberra many of the roads were originally laid out with space left aside specifically for trams and there is no suburban heavy rail. Itâs a no brainer there.

The Metro fleet is currently in the final stages of delivery, provisional acceptance, and final acceptance.
Council is continuing to work closely with the supplier to finalise the fleet into service, as part of the project closure.

Reading between those very vague and meaningless linesâŚperhaps its saying that is a matter they are still discussing/ debating/ arguing with the supplier over before project closure is agreed - whether there is still a 9024 to deliver and how much responsibility the supplier takes for that.
They could have at least said what happened with the âfirstâ 9024 even if what happens now isnât certain yet.

Council is admitting we wonât see the completed Metro expansion by 2032.

Additionally, during the Lord Mayorâs press conference I pressed him on 3 minute frequency and heâs adamant itâs coming but depends on modelling and funding from the State Government.

To be fair, this was largely confirmed some time ago, with the Capalaba expansion apparently being prioritised (as it will service the Olympic Venues at Sleeman and the Shooting Centre at Belmont),

I donât say this to be snarky but rather to remind all of us that this council administration cannot be trusted until they make things very official. They are very disingenuous.
Anyway, we will be lucky if we get any extensions at all with council running the study until next election (lol) and then begging for money that neither state or the Feds seem keen to give them.

Another platform screen door at stop 2a at city hall has down become defective. Opening at a rate of about 2cm/s.
This is the 3rd/rear door. The second has been cooked for a while now.
